The General Education Council is responsible for providing vision for the general education program. Members review and approve general education themes, courses, and policies that are referred by the Faculty Coordinating Committees and submit their approvals to the Academic Policies and Procedures Committee. The Council also guides assessment of the General Education Program. Meetings are open to the entire campus community.

The meeting dates are:
- September 29, 2023 (Proposals must be submitted to the Gen Ed office from the Deans'/College offices by August 15, 2023)
- October 27, 2023 (Proposals must be submitted to the Gen Ed office from the Deans'/College offices by September 15, 2023) Meeting cancelled
- December 1, 2023 (Proposals must be submitted to the Gen Ed office from the Deans'/College offices by October 15, 2023)
- January 26, 2024** (Proposals must be submitted to the Gen Ed office from the Deans'/College offices by December 3, 2023)

**The January 2024 General Education Council meeting is the deadline for having proposals approved for General Education credit in the 2024-2025 Undergraduate Bulletin and the 2024-2025 General Education Checksheet. This is the last opportunity to have credit added for the Integrative Learning Experience or Liberal Studies Experience components of the current General Education requirements. Proposals for other components approved after January 2024 will not be added to the Undergraduate Bulletin or General Education Checksheet until 2025-2026. If you wish to have your course carry General Education credit in the 2024-2025 Bulletin and General Education Checksheet, your Dean's Office must submit your Part C proposal to the General Education office by December 3, 2023.
