General Education Council Meetings 2020-2021

NOTE:  All meetings are held in Room 244 Anne Belk Hall, beginning at 3:00 p.m. unless otherwise noted.  The meeting dates are:

  • January 22, 2021** (Proposals must be submitted to the Gen Ed office from the Deans'/College offices by December 2, 2020)  Snow date - January 29, 2021
  • February 26, 2021 (Proposals must be submitted to the Gen Ed office from the Deans'/College offices by January 15, 2021)
  • March 26, 2021 (Proposals must be submitted to the Gen Ed office from the Deans'/College offices by February 15, 2021)
  • April 30, 2021 (Proposals must be submitted to the Gen Ed office from the Deans'/College offices by March 15, 2021)

**The January 2021 General Education Council meeting is the deadline for having proposals approved for General Education credit in the 2021-2022 Undergraduate Bulletin and the 2021-2022 General Education Checksheet.   Proposals approved after January 2021 will not be added to the Undergraduate Bulletin or General Education Checksheet until 2022-2023.  If you wish to have your course carry General Education credit in the 2021-2022 Bulletin and General Education Checksheet, your Dean's Office must submit your Part C proposal to the General Education office by November 15, 2020.

Responsibilities of General Education Council

The General Education Council is responsible for providing vision for the general education program. Members review and approve general education themes, courses, and policies that are referred by the Faculty Coordinating Committees and submit their approvals to the Academic Policies and Procedures Committee.  The Council also guides assessment of the General Education Program.  Meetings are open to the entire campus community.  To access proposal forms and learn more about the proposal process, visit the forms page.
