General Education Council Meetings 2017-18

NOTE:  All meetings are held in Room 244 Anne Belk Hall, beginning at 3:00 p.m. unless otherwise noted.  The meeting dates are:

  • September 22, 2017 (Proposals must be submitted to the Gen Ed office from the Deans'/College offices by Sept. 8, 2017)    AGENDA
  • October 20, 2017 (Proposals must be submitted to the Gen Ed office from the Deans'/College offices by Oct. 6, 2017) 
  • November 17, 2017 (Proposals must be submitted to the Gen Ed office from the Deans'/College offices by Nov. 3, 2017) 
  • December 1, 2017 (Proposals must be submitted to the Gen Ed office from the Deans'/College offices by Nov. 17, 2017
  • January 19, 2018 (Proposals must be submitted to the Gen Ed office from the Deans'/College offices by Dec. 8, 2017)** 
  • February 16, 2018 (Proposals must be submitted to the Gen Ed office from the Deans'/College offices by Feb. 2, 2018) 
  • March 23, 2018 (Proposals must be submitted to the Gen Ed office from the Deans'/College offices by Mar. 9, 2018
  • April 20, 2018 (Proposals must be submitted to the Gen Ed Office from the Deans'/College offices by April 6, 2018) 

**The January 19, 2018 General Education Council meeting is the deadline for having proposals approved for General Education credit in the 2018-2019 Undergraduate Bulletin and the 2018-2019 General Education Checksheet.   Proposals approved after January 19, 2018 will not be added to the Undergraduate Bulletin or General Education Checksheet until 2019-2020.  If you wish to have your course carry General Education credit in the 2018-2019 Bulletin and General Education Checksheet, your Dean's Office must submit your Part C proposal to the General Education office by December 8, 2017.

Responsibilities of General Education Council

The General Education Council is responsible for providing vision for the general education program. Members review and approve general education themes, courses, and policies that are referred by the Faculty Coordinating Committees and submit their approvals to the Academic Policies and Procedures Committee.  The Council also guides assessment of the General Education Program.  Meetings are open to the entire campus community.  To access proposal forms and learn more about the proposal process, visit the forms page.
