General Education Council Meetings 2018-19

NOTE:  All meetings are held in Room 244 Anne Belk Hall, beginning at 3:00 p.m. unless otherwise noted.  The meeting dates are:

  • September 21, 2018 (Proposals must be submitted to the Gen Ed office from the Deans'/College offices by August 20, 2018) 
  • October 19, 2018 (Proposals must be submitted to the Gen Ed office from the Deans'/College offices by September 24, 2018)   
  • November 16, 2018 (Proposals must be submitted to the Gen Ed office from the Deans'/College offices by October 22, 2018) 
  • January 25, 2019 (Proposals must be submitted to the Gen Ed office from the Deans'/College offices by November 19, 2018)** 
  • February 15, 2019 (Proposals must be submitted to the Gen Ed office from the Deans'/College offices by January 28, 2019)  
  • March 15, 2019 (Proposals must be submitted to the Gen Ed office from the Deans'/College offices by February 18, 2019
  • April 19, 2019 (Proposals must be submitted to the Gen Ed Office from the Deans'/College offices by March 18, 2019) 

**The January 25, 2019 General Education Council meeting is the deadline for having proposals approved for General Education credit in the 2019-2020 Undergraduate Bulletin and the 2019-2020 General Education Checksheet.   Proposals approved after January 25, 2019 will not be added to the Undergraduate Bulletin or General Education Checksheet until 2020-2021.  If you wish to have your course carry General Education credit in the 2019-2020 Bulletin and General Education Checksheet, your Dean's Office must submit your Part C proposal to the General Education office by November 19, 2018.

Responsibilities of General Education Council

The General Education Council is responsible for providing vision for the general education program. Members review and approve general education themes, courses, and policies that are referred by the Faculty Coordinating Committees and submit their approvals to the Academic Policies and Procedures Committee.  The Council also guides assessment of the General Education Program.  Meetings are open to the entire campus community.  To access proposal forms and learn more about the proposal process, visit the forms page.
