Faculty Coordinator of First Year Seminar

The Faculty Coordinator of First Year Seminar is a tenured faculty member whose responsibilities include:

1. Supervising and conducting annual reviews of faculty teaching First Year Seminar full time

2. Recruiting faculty to teach First Year Seminar

3. Chairing the First Year Seminar Faculty Coordinating Committee and recommending instructor hires based on the Committee’s feedback

4. Overseeing faculty development initiatives for and promoting teaching excellence in First Year Seminar

5. Overseeing First Year Seminar course proposal development

6. Coordinating class scheduling with the University Program Associate and assigning teaching schedules to the full-time First Year Seminar faculty

7. Making budgetary decisions about First Year Seminar in consultation with the Director of General Education

8. Coordinating campus communication about First Year Seminar and the General Education Program with the Director of General Education

9. Representing First Year Seminar on relevant campus committees, including General Education Council and the Student Success Team

10. Representing First Year Seminar at campus and external events
