Director of General Education

The Director of General Education is a tenured faculty member whose responsibilities include:

  1. Coordinating the development of the General Education curriculum in conjunction with General Education Council
  2. Approving student transfer substitution requests
  3. Coordinating academic issues with departments
  4. Ensuring that there are appropriate faculty development opportunities for those teaching or potentially teaching General Education courses
  5. Overseeing public relations initiatives and ongoing communication efforts for the General Education Program
  6. Serving as the primary liaison with the Vice Chancellor of Enrollment Management and the Registrar for course availability
  7. Serving as the primary liaison with the Transfer Advisory Board
  8. Serving as liaison with the Office of international Education and Development and providing advice to faculty developing overseas General Education offerings
  9. Chairing the General Education Council
  10. Chairing the Executive Perspectives Committee
  11. Serving as primary liaison for the University Advising Council
  12. Serving on DegreeWorks Oversight Committee
  13. Serving as liaison with Faculty Senate
  14. Representing the General Education Program at campus and external events
  15. Overseeing the General Education website design and development
  16. Overseeing the daily operations of the Office of General Education – manage budgets, supervise and evaluate personnel, prepare annual report, and lead team conversations for strategic planning
  17. Performing other duties as assigned
